core and leg strength in baseball

All serious baseball players are looking to get better every day at every aspect of the game. Hitting, Pitching, and fielding are the big three. Luckily,  I play all three of these positions so there are many ways I can help you. To begin off, the sport of baseball is all about using your core and legs. Core and leg strength are the keys to becoming a great baseball player. In Spring training every March, Major League Baseball players go down to their spring training homes and work out a lot before the season starts, mostly on the legs and core. They do wind sprints, running circuits, and lifting to become as strong as they can be when the long 162 game season comes along. Here is video of a couple of different work outs while your hitting to help you use your legs.
Here are some important leg work outs to help your legs become as strong as they can be:
1. Squats 3 sets of 12 reps
2. Walking Lunges with a set of dumbells 3 sets of 12
3. power cleans 3 sets of 12 reps
4. dead lifts 3 sets of 12 reps
5. leg press 3 sets of 12 reps
6. ham string curls 3 sets of 12 reps

Balance is probably the most important aspect in Baseball. Pitchers and hitters are always looking for ways to become more balanced at the plate and pitching to become more succesfull. The key to becoming more balanced is to work on your abs. If you have a strong core, will be a good successful baseball players your whole life. Having a strong core makes you throw faster and hit the ball harder and farther. Here are some work outs for your abs to become a great balanced player.

Other core workouts can consist of:
1. Ab crunches]
2. resistance trunk turns
3. leg raises to work the lower abs.
4. planks and side planks
5. russian twists
6. sprinting

Core and leg strength are the most important aspects in baseball. If you do these work outs and listen to your coaches about what type of training programs you should go on, you will be successful. Great players such as Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine, and Ken Griffrey Jr. focused on making these 2 parts of their body as strong as they could possibly be. Baseball is not the only sport that requires core and leg strength. All sports consist of it. So get working!
