Pitch Perfect is the latest movie of the musical comedy
genre out there, having come out on DVD in mid-December. It has stolen the
hearts and hit the funny bones of people all ages and backgrounds in the US.
The movie is about a girl name Becca (Anna Kendrick), who moves into college as
an incoming freshman. She’s rough around the edges, a little alternative and
isn’t exactly a people person. She struggles in the beginning making friends
and finding the motivation to go to class, mainly because she would much rather
be in LA producing sick beats and becoming the next DJ sensation. Becca would
much rather spend hours on her Mac mixing beats and listening to her headphones
than take part in the normal life of a college student. Her father, a professor
at the University (she’s going to a beautiful university for free!!!), makes a
deal with her. He says that if she gets involved in at least one club and actually
tries to participate and make the most of it, and she doesn’t like it at all,
then he will pay her way to LA to pursue her DJ dream. She gladly accepts,
thinking that the task at hand will be a cinch and she’ll soon be on her way to
LA becoming the next “P-Diddy” as her father would say.
After being caught singing Titanium, by David Guetta, in the
shower at school, a girl named Chloe (Brittany Snow) who is a member of the “Bellas,”
an all-female a cappella group, begs Becca to try out for the group. She makes it
into the group and meets a whole slew of characters, from the power-hungry,
control freak, Aubrey (Anna Camp) to the hysterical and brutally honest, Fat
Amy (Rebel Wilson). She also becomes friendly with a boy, Jesse (Skylar Astin),
who shows her how to appreciate classic movies and just have fun. Jesse is a
member of the all-male a cappella group, the undefeated "Treble Makers." The Bellas,
being in a rut, must come to common ground and learn how to work as a team to
beat the Treble Makers in the end. Becca ultimately finds where she belongs
thanks to her new friends and now boyfriend Jesse. LA can wait a little longer
now.
Having a background in music and show choir (sort of like glee club), I absolutely loved Pitch Perfect and understand the crazy world of musical groups, competition and performance. I have watched Pitch Perfect an endless amount of times. I play the soundtrack daily, so you could say that I'm obsessed. The comedy, music numbers and script were definitely on point and I have lots of friends, guys and girls, that I have convinved as well. It is a must-see!

Critics give Pitch Perfect 4 out of 5 stars and one said, "Going to stranger places than Glee would ever dare, this [Pitch Perfect] is one of the best musical comedies since A Mighty Wind." -Henry Barnes
First of all, great movie choice. At first I was forced to watch this movie, but as the movie progresses it was absolutely hilarious. Definitely a movie that should be watched by everyone (age appropriate of course). The movie is not all about comedy though, and you did a great job summarizing the movie in general. The movie itself was great, and definitely not a chick flick. My thoughts going into the movie were that I would not generally like it, because I was under the impression it was going to be all about girls singing. This movie comes a very, very, close second to Bridesmaids. Which may be the funniest movie ever. Again that movie is a must see, but I highly doubt you have not already seen it. If not go watch it, right now.
